About the PRogram
At Lake Placid Elementary School, our goal is for our students to always strive to be their "Bomber Best." In Physical Education, being your "Bomber Best" means that you are trying your best, being a good teammate, showing good sportsmanship and most importantly you are having fun in Physical Education class.
The goal of the physical education program here at Lake Placid Elementary is to provide each student with the skills needed to be able to participate in a variety of sports and activities. Our goal is to also teach each and every student knowledge of different sports and activities, teamwork and good sportsmanship.
In grades K-1, students will learn spatial awareness, basic movements (running, galloping, skipping, hopping, etc), listening/following directions, chasing and fleeing, and basic sport skills (throwing, catching, kicking, dribbling with both hands and feet, etc.). Students in these grades will learn this through a variety of fun games
In grade 2, students will continue learning basic movements, chasing and fleeing and basic sport skills. They will also progress to the next level and start to learn game play of different sports.
In grades 3-5, students will continue their development of their skills in sport and activity. Students will also start to learn rules, court/field markings, and strategy as it relates to the sports we are learning at the time. Students will also learn various activities that they can perform throughout their lives.
